Challenge

The San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park is a mixed-used venue that features a racetrack in Carmona, Cavite, Philippines. It is the home of the Manila Jockey Club. The leisure park occupies a land of 77 hectares. The developments in the park required construction of perimeter earth retaining structures immediate to its important facilities, specifically an 11-meter high x 334 meters long retaining wall.

Solution

Competing against various types of retaining wall systems, the customer finally decided in favor of the design by Maccaferri engineers upon acceptance and verification of the Project Consultant (TCGI Engineers). A mechanically-stabilized earth wall system using Terramesh System units was adopted and has proven to be economical for the customer.
