Advanced Solutions for Erosion Control and Soil Reinforcement
MacMat Geomats are engineered using high-quality synthetic filaments intricately heat-tangled to form a three-dimensional, flexible, and highly porous layer, with porosity rates exceeding 90%. These geomats offer a durable and eco-friendly solution for erosion control, effectively adapting to diverse climatic conditions and environments, whether dry or wet. Their ability to integrate with natural vegetation promotes healthy root growth, while simultaneously protecting the soil surface from erosive agents like water runoff and rain impact.
For projects that require additional structural support, MacMat R combines the geomat structure with a reinforcement layer, available in double-twisted steel mesh or synthetic geogrid. This configuration provides high tensile strength and stiffness, making it ideal for complex applications such as slope stabilization, soil nailing, and protection against landslides and rockfall. The versatility of MacMat R makes it suitable for challenging scenarios, including steep slopes, coastal defenses, and high-traffic embankments.
Both MacMat and MacMat R are excellent choices for civil engineering, infrastructure, and environmental protection projects. Engineers can leverage Maccaferri’s design software ECoMac and the eDesign platform to develop customized solutions for erosion control and soil reinforcement, ensuring optimal project outcomes. 20MW ORMOC BATTER ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM – SLOPE PROTECTION
Philippines
The new innovations of renewable energy have widely diversified in the country. One of the renewable sources is the Battery Energy Storage Systems which is part of the expanding portfolios into cleaner energy at the Philippines. The SMC Global Power Holding Corp. has proudly had its own growing Battery Storage located at Brgy. Milagro, Ormoc City, Leyte. The project site has found to be on an elevated natural slope which is around 8 meters high with an initial riprap slope protection. Since the elevated area has its battery storages, the slope must be protected and free from erosion due to high load carriage of the area. Minor erosion problem is the main concern of this project. Active Geoanchor Inc. is seeking for a cost-effective alternative solution to traditional slope protection and erosion control protection while providing a structural sound structure.

Active Rockfall Protection in Borongan
Philippines
A slope collapse occurred in the area, creating immediate safety concerns for nearby infrastructure and road users. The instability of the slope increased the risk of falling debris and further soil movement, particularly during periods of rainfall. Without proper intervention, the affected area remained vulnerable to additional erosion and potential rockfall incidents, posing ongoing hazards and possible disruption to surrounding activities.

BASF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH STATION
Philippines
A portion of the toe of the existing natural slope along the perimeter of BASF Agricultural Research Station in Bay, Laguna has been scoured due to the meandering of the creek towards the perimeter of the facility. This has posed a potential danger of collapse of the perimeter fence on top of the slope. In this, BASF, through their Consultant, has studied the problem and searched an immediate and permanent solution. The affected portion is about 30 meters long, requiring a protection of about six meters high from creek bed.
