MacArmour is a 2-in-1 product that combines a homogeneous structure of bi-directional steel wire ropes with double twist wire mesh. The result is a unique product that has an excellent out-of-plane stiffness (punch resistance) and an outstanding tensile strength in the longitudinal and transversal directions.
Steelgrid HR
The Steelgrid HR System is an innovative complete system for rockfall mitigation and slope consolidation works. It is used as a drapery or as a high stiffness (low extension) bolted facing when anticipated loads exceed the capability of traditional DT Mesh. Maccaferri Steelgrid HR System combines a patented high strength steel wire mesh geocomposite which is used in conjunction with anchor plates, specific U-bolts and mesh connectors.

Construction of Active Rockfall Protection System in San Miguel, Leyte
Philippines
The Municipality of San Miguel, located in the northern part of Leyte Island and bordered by the San Juanico Strait, is marked by its mountainous terrain. While this geography offers natural beauty, it has also created persistent challenges for infrastructure and road safety. Many of the municipality’s roads were constructed along steep slopes and cut sections of mountains, leaving them exposed to instability. These conditions have resulted in frequent landslides, rockfalls, and slope collapses, especially during heavy rains and typhoons. Such events place motorists and nearby communities at constant risk, cause road closures, and disrupt the movement of goods and services. The recurring instability has also led to repeated maintenance and repair costs, diverting government resources that could otherwise be allocated to new development. Without an effective intervention, the problem will persist and worsen with the increasing frequency of extreme weather events. Ensuring slope stability and road safety became an urgent priority to protect lives, property, and economic activity in San Miguel.

HOLCIM BULACAN CEMENT PLANT

Holcim Philippines, the country’s leading cement manufacturer, experienced rock fall problems in their cement plant located in Matictic, Norzagaray, Bulacan. In an incident, a portion of the plant's conveyor was hit by falling rocks that resulted to delay in production and very costly repair. The initial solution was to use shotcrete with rock anchors. However, due to high cost of shotcrete materials and its installation, Holcim opted to look for an alternative solution.

MAKILING-BANAHAW GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT

The steam pipe lines at the toe of slope in Bulalo 34 station of the Makiling-Banahaw Geothermal Power Plant (Mak-Ban) have been found to be at high risk of damage from falling rocks. This has caught the attention of Mak-Ban’s Engineering Office and requested Maccaferri for an immediate site inspection. After the site inspection, it has been found that the main causes of falling debris in the subject area were the high wind velocity at the elevation of Bulalo 34, the unwanted trees, and the absence of an interceptor drainage canal that could address surface run-off.
