Maccaferri Rockfall Barriers (or Catch Fences) are designed to catch falling rocks and boulders before they fall onto infrastructure, mine haul-roads or other developments.
Our wide portfolio of rockfall barriers range from 35 kJ/H=1.35m to 9000 kJ/H=8m.
Maccaferri Rockfall Barriers are supplied in a "kit" form. All components are supplied in the kit in accordance with EAD 340059-00-0106 or EAD 340089-00-0106, including main nets, poles, base plates, energy dissipation devices, wire ropes and all accessories.
Our rockfall barriers are CE marked, guaranteeing rigorous quality control.
The anchors to connect the barriers to the ground are supplied on request and according to a specific design considering the ground conditions.

Our barriers are among the best in the field in terms of performance (high residual height after impact and low deformation upon impact).
Our barriers are easy to install, the design being made not only to achieve high level performance but also to facilitate the installation process for workers (pre-assembled panels on the posts, climbing steps on the posts, system opening of the curtains)*.

AL HADA - TAIF
Al Hada City is characterized by steep mountainous terrain, winding roads, and significant elevation changes. Due to the natural geology, fractured rock formations, and steep slopes, the area is highly susceptible to rockfall hazards , particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and temperature variations. These rockfalls pose a serious risk to public safety, road users, and nearby infrastructure , potentially causing traffic disruptions, property damage, and accidents. Existing protective measures are limited and do not provide adequate long-term mitigation against increasing rockfall events. Therefore, the authorities are seeking reliable, durable, and proven rockfall protection solutions that can be effectively installed in challenging mountainous conditions, minimize maintenance, and ensure long-term safety. Maccaferri’s engineered rockfall protection systems are considered a suitable solution to mitigate these risks while preserving the natural landscape of Al Hada City.

Amala Desert Rock
Saudi Arabia
The Desert Rock Resort site is located within a steep, rugged mountain valley characterized by fractured rock formations, near-vertical cliff faces, and natural fault lines. During excavation and ongoing site development, the area was identified as highly susceptible to heavy rockfall events, posing significant risks to construction activities, permanent structures, access roads, and long-term guest safety. The challenge was to mitigate large and frequent rockfall hazards without disturbing the natural landscape or compromising the project’s architectural vision of seamless integration with the terrain. Given the complex geology, limited access, and the need for a discreet, sustainable, and highly reliable protection system, Maccaferri was engaged to deliver a best-in-class, engineered rockfall protection solution tailored specifically to the site conditions.

CANTERA ZIORDIA
The Ziordia quarry has an orography formed by limestone rock, with steep slopes as a result of quarrying, and potentially unstable large blocks. The company CRS Ingeniería contacted Bianchini Ingeniero to analyse the situation and possible solutions, and subsequently the company Inaccés Geotècnica Vertical also intervened. One of the main risks was the blocks that could fall from a 40-metre-high, 15-metre-wide mochón, located on one of the quarry's usual passageways. This represented a potential risk for the installations and the workers themselves. Therefore, a series of actions were carried out to stabilise these blocks and protect the area.
